The latest thing to go wireless in India is , of course TV, courtesy,DTH technology. When we had Tata Sky installed a few weeks ago (at gunpoint since the part of Delhi where we live is now under the CAS regime), the quality of the service was suprisingly good.
The service engineer knew his onions, communicated well, was courteous, came on time for his installation appointment, and thankfully did no disappear for a tea break in the middle of the job!
Clearly educated at a tech institute or at least thoroughly by Tatasky, he is the new kind of blue collar worker that we can expect to see. This is clearly the new group of consumers that a service oriented economy is creating. And this is precisely the target group for that entry range mobile, refrigerator and even television.
We saw the first of this kind when the fixed line companies rolled out services and a new kind of lineman came to do the installation. The ones who didn't hang around on the doorstep for a tip, clearly because he was sufficiently paid.
May their tribe increase!
